White Fillings – When are they useful?

What is a White Filling?

A white filling is a composite filling composed of a tooth-colored plastic and glass mixture used to restore decayed teeth. Composites are also used for cosmetic improvements of the smile by changing the color of the teeth or reshaping disfigured teeth.

How is a white filling placed?

Following preparation, the dentist places the composite in layers, typically using a light specialized to harden each layer. When the process is finished, the dentist will shape the composite to fit the tooth. The dentist then polishes the composite to prevent staining and early wear.

How will this help me?

Dental decay, if left untreated, can lead to bigger problems, which can be quite painful. During your dental examination, if any small-to-medium sized cavities are found, we can offer white fillings to correct them.

Today’s dental fillings are very closely matched to your natural tooth structure’s shade and texture, making them practically unnoticeable. Modern anesthetics have made this procedure quite comfortable and, at Breezy Bay Dental, our high quality, advanced methods provide for quick and easy treatment.
