Dental Implants: The Perfect Solution For a Perfect Smile

Gone are the days when dentures and partials were the only ways to cosmetically correct missing teeth. Dentistry has come a long way since then, and dental implants are the perfect permanent solution for a gap-toothed grin.

What Are Implants?

Implants are used to permanently replace missing teeth. We describe dental implants as root replacements. First, the dental implants are placed underneath the gumline. Once healed, they provide the strength and support needed for realistic-looking and functional prosthetic teeth.

The Benefits

While dentures and bridges work perfectly for some, implants offer advantages that can’t be beat:

  • They are permanent. Once your implants are placed, they are there to stay. If you care for them as instructed by your dentist, they can last a lifetime.
  • You can eat what you want! No need to worry about shifting denture plates, getting food stuck between your gums and dentures, or avoiding your favorite meals. Implants can handle your favorite tooth-hardy foods. From saltwater taffy to corn on the cob, implants can handle it all.
  • They are secure. No unexpected movement. No loss of suction. You can smile, speak, and eat without worry.
  • They are easy to care for. Implants require the same care as your natural teeth: brushing at least twice each day, flossing daily, and regular visits with your dentist. Nothing to soak by the sink overnight. Nothing that requires dental adhesives. No fuss, no muss.

Am I a Candidate?

Dr. Sherman will determine if you are a candidate for implants by performing a 3-D panoramic scan of your mouth and jaw. If your jaw bone is sufficient, he may move forward with treatment. Dr. Sherman and staff do the entire procedure right in their office; no need for referral to a specialist. If your jaw bone has been compromised, a bone graft may be necessary before implants can be surgically placed. After the surgically implanted posts have fused, the prosthetics can be attached. Your new teeth can be customized to mimic the appearance of your natural teeth or to give you the glamorous smile you’ve always desired.
